On Thursday the 18th October 2012 in Hengoed Chapel a group of residents from Trem Penallta, Hengoed, launched a very successful Food Co-Op.
John Greig together with Katie Gibbons and Mark White set up and ran the latest United Welsh food co-op. This is the first co-op run by general needs tenants.
The Volunteers took an astounding 37 orders of local fresh and healthy produce bags.
The chimney stack of the former Caerphilly Miners hospital comes down ready for the commencement of construction of 82 new much needed homes – The Beeches Village.
On Monday 6th October we moved to our new Cardiff office, Y Lanfa in West Bute Street, Cardiff Bay.
Our new office is open from 9am-5pm on Monday to Friday and the Cardiff Neighbourhood Officers, Neighbourhood Assistants, Property Officer & Receptionists are based from here. If you would like to pay us a visit there are parking bays outside the office, you will need to get a ticket from the parking meter but the first hour is free. We also have a meeting room where we will be holding drop in sessions, surgeries and training in the future.
We would also like to introduce our new receptionists- Jackie who works in the mornings and Angela in the afternoons and they will be the first point of contact if you visit Y Lanfa.
The site was previously a number of rented retail units, however many of the units have been empty for the past few years. We knocked the units together and extended to the front to create a large open plan office. We hope to assist the regeneration of this area of Cardiff Bay.
